FAQs
What is the difference between coaching and therapy?
The way it makes the most sense to me is to think of coaching as architecture and therapy as archaeology. Therapy works to treat both mental health conditions and to help people overcome past trauma, behavioral patterns, challenges in relationship to others, etc. Coaching is a co-creative experience using intuitive questioning to support a client’s goals for the future and to support them in building a framework to achieve those goals.
Why do you recommend a 4 session package?
The 4 session package is intentionally created to maximize your time and energy. Depending on your goals, our first time together will be spent discussing your desired outcomes and the challenges blocking you from getting there. Each subsequent session will be designed with a specific focus to support you in achieving your goals.
What is the cost for 1:1 coaching?
The cost of my motherhood coaching package is $395. For the first five people to sign up for a package in February 2024, I am offering $100 off PLUS complimentary enrollment in either Yoga for Motherhood or Moving into Motherhood.
Do you offer any discounts or sliding scale opportunities?
As a white, cisgender, heterosexual woman living in America, I acknowledge the privilege inherent in all of those identities. As part of my ongoing anti-racist and anti-xenophobic efforts, I offer a 30% Reparatory discount for my coaching package and for any of my yoga sessions.
The United States is built on centuries of racialized injustice. I acknowledge the appropriation of land from Indigenous communities, the forced unpaid labour of Black people, the internment of Asian-Americans, and the countless other historical injustices experienced by the racially marginalized. I acknowledge the racialized oppression that still rages around us. As a part of my commitment to be actively anti-racist, I offer a need-blind Reparatory Discount on class passes and coaching sessions to anyone who self-identifies as Black, Indigenous or otherwise Non-White. If you self-identify as BIPOC and would like to accept this small gesture of reparation, please do so by using code REPARATORY at checkout, which will deduct 30% from your coaching package or class purchase.
I recognize that our culture is inherently biased toward those who have wealth more readily acquiring more wealth, while those who do not have wealth disproportionately dealing with more challenges and obstacles to comfort and financial freedom. If you think coaching would be helpful to you, or if you are interested in attending a yoga series and are in need of financial support, please contact me at laurensackscoaching@gmail.com.
Is your coaching just for those who identify as mothers?
I want what I offer to be of service to anyone who needs it, with no judgement or withholding. While the people I serve often self-identify as mothers, my intention is to work with anyone who provides care to others and needs support clarifying their own identity, goals, boundaries or values. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and strive to continue to learn and support marginalized people and communities.
